Executive Certificate of Professional Practice: Special Needs Vocational Assessors [Level B] (ONLINE)

Universal Design for Transition (UDT) was created as a framework for applying Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to secondary transition to appropriate training for employment in workforce. UDT focuses on creating accessible opportunities related to transition from school to post-school services for people with disabilities including the design, delivery, assessment of services, and preparation for possible employment if appropriate and ready. Learners will learn how to prepare a UDT plan for adults with disabilities. 

Learner will also be introduced to the vocational screening and clinical exploratory assessment for the first two phases of vocational measurement cycle covering (1) innate abilities & skills; (2) sensory behavioral abilities & skills; (3) adaptive behavioral abilities & skills; (4) socio-emotional abilities & skills; and (5) cognitive behavioral abilities & skills. At the third phase of vocational assessment and planning, it covers (1) innate abilities & skills; (2) sensory functional behavioral abilities & skills; (3) adaptive functional behavioral abilities & skills; (4) socio-emotional functional behavoiral abilities & skills; and (5) vocational functional behavioral abilities & skills.

Learners are introduced to types of measures in vocational assessment: (1) the core/primary measure, (2) supplementary measure, and (3) additional measure. They will learn about the different assessment tools used in each measure to know and understand what these tools offer and why and when to use them. They will be provided the forms of these selected tools for vocational assessment and how to interpret the scores and understand what these scores tell about a person with disability in terms of his/her vocational competence and performance and if s/he is ready for vocational training and/or employment.

Assessment:

  • Assessment is based on coursework and assignments with no formal examinations
  • Guided learning hours to fulfill: 60 hours

1.  Pearson Test of English (PTE) 51; or
2.  IELTS 5.5 (reading and writing must be at 5.5); or
3.  TOEFL 59
5.  Equivalent (such as Pearson Versant English Test).
